A down-to-earth kind of therapy experience.

Erin Wilkerson, LMFT & LPCC

Hi! My name is Erin Wilkerson! I am bilingual in English and American Sign Language (ASL) and a California native residing on Tongva land.

As a Black cisgender woman, I empathize with the challenges of finding a safe space to express thoughts and emotions. The sense of invisibility can be overwhelming, leaving one feeling lost and disconnected. I am here to help navigate internal and external system regulation, empower self-advocacy, and provide a secure environment for sharing emotions. I aim to support the BIPOC and Deaf/Hard of Hearing communities by fostering genuine connections, promoting emotional regulation, and equipping individuals with tools to navigate life more smoothly. Together, we can create a space where authenticity thrives, and individuals feel empowered to navigate life's complexities easily.

Call or email me today to set up a free consultation; I’d love to help you on your journey! Even if I can't help you, I may have some resources to point you in the right direction!

My Approach to Therapy

I assist clients by listening to their stories to identify the root causes of their challenges while providing tools for progress in life. I believe in our innate ability to grow and change, especially in supportive, non-judgmental, and safe environments. Together, we can create a space of empathy, acceptance, and authenticity. I utilize various approaches to therapy with a focus on a body-based approach,  Somatic Experiencing (SE), to tailor treatment to your needs. This way we can utilize strategies to help you tap into your mind-body connection for healing.

Education & Training

I received my Bachelor's in Deaf Studies with a minor in Psychology from California State University, Northridge (CSUN) and a Master's in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University.

My Methods

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a collaborative, goal-oriented therapy that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. By challenging and reframing negative thoughts, individuals can improve their emotional well-being. CBT also involves behavioral techniques to confront maladaptive behaviors.

Somatic Experiencing (SE)

Somatic Experiencing is a body-based approach that helps you tune into your body's sensations to heal emotional trauma. It's all about feeling and releasing stored stress and tension through physical sensations. By focusing on what your body tells you, you can process past experiences and relieve emotional pain. It's like therapy for your body!

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a client-oriented and collaborative approach that helps individuals develop relationships with different aspects of their personality (parts). This allows individuals to understand themselves more and operate their system to get to a place where different parts respond to triggers rather than react.

Let's work together!
